Leitz Rudesheimer Schlossberg 2007
An incredibly fruity and aromatic off-dry Riesling with cellaring potential for at least 10 years.
Johannes Leitz has taken his family estate in Rüdesheim from 3 hectares to 40, and from anonymity to celebrity. A fine example of modern German winemaking, he produces brilliant wines in both dry and sweeter styles. In 2011 he won the prestigious Gault Milau Wine Guide's accolade as Winemaker of the Year.
Rottland is a steep, grey slate vineyard on the Rhine, just next to the town of Rüdesheim. Its warm location in the 'Lower Rheingau', with steep south-facing slopes, enables it to produce Riesling both intense and elegant. Schlossberg (Castle Hill) is a spectacular red slate vineyard next to the town.
