Kirrihill Peacemaker Shiraz

Kirrihill E.B.`s The Peacemaker Shiraz 2013

Tasting Note:
The Peacemaker is a wine of immense deep purple colour that lines and coats the glass. Youthful hues will continue to be present for years to come. The nose is bright and lifted and full of seductive aromas of rich dark chocolate, leather and cinnamon. There are undertones of mocha oak and black brooding fruits, dried crushed flowers, violets and blackberries. The palate is rich and textural, full of concentrated black fruit notes with hints of mulberry, ripe plum and cassis, liquorice and earthy, exotic spices. The ethereal fruit carries beautifully over from the aroma and surrounds the palate, ever dancing and ever changing as the wine opens up. The long and savoury tannins are well balanced and supported by a bright integrated acidity. This is a wine that will continue to reward with careful cellaring for up to 10 years in bottle or can be enjoyed now.

Vineyard Information

The Peacemaker Shiraz comes from one of Clare’s most famous vineyards - “Tullymore Vineyard”. Sourced from the best 20 rows in the north western corner of the single block within the Tullymore Vineyard, the fruit was painstakingly tasted daily to ensure the maximum flavour ripeness was achieved. Grown on granite and loam over red fertile soils finishing with a deep red clay in the lower 2 meters of the profile allows this vineyard to exist with very little irrigation. The resultant block produces small berries and few bunches on short exposed canes. This allows concentration of the flavours and helps balance flavour ripeness with physiological ripeness. The vineyard itself is located in the North eastern foothills of the Clare Valley. This vineyard has produced medal winning wines ever since the first crop. East facing slopes with an elevation of 450 meters makes this one of the best sites in Clare to grow Shiraz.
